On April 23, in
observance of World Reading Day, Hitachi Elevator (China) Co., Ltd., in collaboration
with the China Elevator Association (CEA), held a Sharing Safety Tips for
Elevators Through Reading-themed donation ceremony during Langfang
International Lift Expo 2019. As part of the ceremony, Hitachi Elevator donated
6,000 A Magical Elevator Tour books to the primary schools and
kindergartens in Langfang Economic and Technological Development Zone. A
Magical Elevator Tour is a safety manual providing schoolchildren
information on how to use elevators safely. With the manual, the company aims
to continue educating the public about the safe use of elevators across China.
Hitachi Elevator (China) president Jia Yuhui said, " Hitachi
Elevator China constantly seek to better leverage our leading expertise to
serve the public interest and give back to society while we continue growing
and performing better as a company."
Since 2008, Hitachi Elevator has capitalized on its
superior resources and relationships with quality supervision authorities at
the local level, educational organizations and partners to organize the Enhance
Wellness with Safe Use of Elevators-themed education event across China with a
focus on philanthropy in order to help the public aware unsafe behavior when
riding an elevator and respond properly to unanticipated elevator breakdowns.
In 2018 alone, the event benefited over 1.76 million people across 117 Chinese
cities.
In 2018, which marked the 10th anniversary of the
Enhance Wellness with Safe Use of Elevators event, Hitachi Elevator compiled
and published A Magical Elevator Tour based on the Guidelines for Public
Safety Education in Primary and Secondary Schools issued by Chinas Ministry of
Education, with the support from CEA, the Shanghai Elevator Trade Association
and the Guangzhou Association of Special Equipment. In May 2018, the company
launched the Sharing Safety Tips for Elevators Through Reading program for
public welfare and promoted A Magical Elevator Tour with the aim of
encouraging schoolchildren to learn how to ride an elevator safely through
reading and of strengthening the collaboration with the precision-driven public
education program.
During the ceremony, China Elevator Association president Li
Shoulin indicated that elevators transport over 1.5 billion people each day in
China and, as a result, it has become an essential part of daily life. The
Chinese government, elevator industry and communities constantly focus on how
to ensure the safety of elevators and provide each passenger with a safe and
reliable travel experience. For years, Hitachi Elevator has been utilizing its
expertise and resources to promote the education of the safe use of elevators
as part of its win-win partnership with local communities, the overall aim of
which is to create more value for the greater society.
Mr. Jia added, "Hitachi Elevator will continue to further the
Sharing Safety Tips for Elevators Through Reading public program and plans to
donate A Magical Elevator Tour manuals worth 1 million yuan (approx.
US$150,000) over the next two years, with the goal of encouraging children to
learn about the fundamentals of elevators and grasp the knowledge on how to use
an elevator safely.
